Got it for: $50! I rented this game from Hastings, forgot to take it back, they called me about a month later looking for it. It had been under my car seat, and I had forgotten to turn it back in. The late fee on it was over $80, so they just let me buy the game for $50 instead. Where I got the box and manual for it, I don't know...

As their second Street Fighter game on the Genesis, Capcom has improved on SF: SCE in almost every way: Bigger characters, better sound and more colors! Four new characters, four all new stages, redone color schemes, added moves and animations make this one of the best fighters on the Genesis, surpassing even SF2:SCE!

What's it all about?
It's a one on one fighter...well, it's *the* one on one fighter. Choosing one of the sixteen characters(twelve returning, four new), you'll use an assortment of regular and special attacks as you make your way to the evil overlord Bison. Like the previous Genesis SF2(Street Fighter II: Special Champion's Edition), this one has a few extras above and beyond both the SNES, and even arcade version. First, you can actually add turbo "stars" to the game, making it run every bit as fast as SF2:SCE, which is just *really* nice as Capcom decided to drop the game's speed down to Champion's Edition level in the arcade. Past that there's the Tournament, Challenge, Versus and the returning Group modes to keep you busy. Exclusive to the Genesis, there's also the ultra-hip "Expert" mode that will allow you to fight *every single character in the game* in the regular, arcade-style gameplay mode.

Graphics - Excellent! You can definitely tell what Capcom did with those 40 megs. The backgrounds are very colorful and nicely detailed; the characters are big and fluidly animated with lots of detail as well. Everything is so vibrant you'd think that Capcom was using more than the 64 on screen colors that the Genesis allows.
Sound - The music and sound effects are great! The speech is still kinda scratchy, but it's far better than the samples used in SCE; all in all, it's totally acceptable.
Control - Bordering closely on phenomenal with the amazing Genesis six button controller. There is nothing you can't do with this controller!
AI - Cheap, cheap, cheap! When you raise the difficulty level the only thing that goes up is the amount of energy the CPU takes off with each hit(Zangief can kill you with *two* spinning piledrivers on the higher settings). The CPU throws(a lot), does impossible moves(Guile will walk halfway across the screen TOWARDS you and throw a Sonic Boom) and somehow gets out of combos(Ken's Dragon Punch is a guaranteed three hits when used close right? Sometimes the CPU will get away with only one hit!).
Replay value - It's a fighter, of course you'll play it a lot!
Tips for better gaming experiences:
If you don't mind missing the bonus stages, I'd recommend playing on "Expert" mode as you get to fight every character in the game. It's great!!!

Zangief giving you grief? You know, the genie did a little wrestling back in high school...might be able to give you some pointers...

My rating: 97(out of 100) - It almost does not get any better than this, Capcom has outdone themselves!
EGM gave it: 6, 6, 7, 8(out of 10)
GameFan gave it: 86, 90, 92(out of 100)
GamePro gave it: 4.5(graphics), 4.0(sound), 5.0(control), 4.5(funfactor)(out of 5)

Cat's review:
It's great, although the CPU *is* outrageously cheap sometimes.....

Yes, give it to me baby!
How-do-Ken? Why, do fine Ryu!
Damn!:
SSF2 weighs in as the largest Genesis game ever made, a whopping 40 megs!
