The ultimate in cool Capcom character design is here: The one and only Strider! Straight from the arcade to you, this was the first Genesis game to consist of eight megabits. Though it's not a perfect translation, this version still rocks, even today.

What's it all about?
It's an extremely fast paced, arcade-style side scroller. As Strider, you'll run and jump through levels ripping enemies apart with his cipher(a lethal combination of a sword and a nightstick) and, sometimes, with the help of one of his various robotic animal guardians.

Graphics - Amazing! All of the characters are big(and I mean BIG), and though some animate pretty stiffly at times, it's not too bad at all; Strider, on the other hand, is very well animated. All of the levels are filled with great scenery and amazing action sequences. Love that downhill mountain dash!
Sound - Pretty good. Not a whole lot here in terms of sound, just a few sword slashes and screams. The music has a military-ambient quality to it(if you can imagine) that isn't bad.
Control - A little shaky. Strider can't move once he jumps, which can make it hard to accomplish certain things.
AI - Just kind of there. I don't think the AI is weak as much as I think Strider is just too damn strong.
Replay value - The bosses will have you coming back for more! Just to watch the huge ape, mech dino and fly around the huge orb one more time will keep you playing for quite a while!
Tips for better gaming experiences:
Be sure you have some extra men built up for that last level...things get real hard, real quick right before the last boss.

The Master consistently handing your ass to you? No need to call for backup...just call the genie!

My rating: 90(out of 100) - Great action title, with some really memorable levels and ultra-cool character design. Sadly, it ends entirely too quickly...
EGM gave it: 9, 9, 9, 9(out of 10)
GamePro gave it: 5.0(graphics), 4.0(sound), 4.0(gameplay), 4.0(funfactor), 5.0(challenge)(out of 5)

Bad cat!
Cat's review:
It's a bit short, and really not worth all of the hype. A few cool scenes, nothing more.......reow.

Striders, like most ninjas, always have time to kill vicious wolves...
I wish I could leap 8 feet in the air and do a cartwheel flip!
Love that lamp he's got on the front of the glider...classy!
You damn monkey!
Interesting Tidbits:
Strider received the "Game of the Year" award from EGM while it was still in beta form! Also, it was number 42 on
EGM's "100 Best Games of All Time" list.
