Got it for: $34.19, box, manual, cart(but no map!) and that was *with* the FuncoLand discount! Koei games were/still are damn expensive!

Send out the ninjas! Nobunaga's Ambition is a great strategy game that really has some sharp AI and a solid simulation engine. Almost everything you do somehow affects something else. Example - Sell your rice crop to buy weapons for the army and the peasants get angry for selling their food! You damn peasants!

What's it all about?
It's a slow-paced simulation game that has you watching over your area(s) while attempting to conquer others. Through the turn-based gameplay, you'll improve your lands(fiefs), trade with local merchants and even build up an army to defend yourself, or use to attack others with. Once adequately trained and armed, you can actually invade other ruler's fiefs and take over all that they have built. This continues until you unite the entire land under your rule...

Graphics - Decent, bordering on crappy. The map looks like a crayon-colored puzzle and the battle screens are pretty dull(from a graphic standpoint). None of this really matters though, it's the strategy that will draw you in and keep you there.
Sound - Again, decent...nothing more.
Control - Kinda crappy with the control pad, but with the mouse(which you can get for about $5 or less almost anywhere) everything is fine.
AI - Rough. The CPU can be incredibly mean sometimes(not cheap though, mind you), ganging up on you as soon as you start the game. As long as you can survive the first 30 minutes, you'll be alright.
Replay value - YOU WILL NOT STOP, not until you've conquered it all! Even then you might not stop....
Tips for better gaming experiences:
Build your fucking army QUICKLY. When the game first starts, the CPU controlled fiefs go fucking nuts attacking anyone's fief they are close to. If you can build your army up in the first few turns, you'll survive most of the time and be able to rebuild after the initial apocalyptic-style attacks.

My rating: 94(out of 100) - An amazing game that mixes strategy, sim and war into a wonderful experience. Hard to get into, but once you do, it's worth taking the time to conquer all who oppose you.
GamePro gave it: 3.5(graphics), 3.0(sound), 4.0(control), 4.0(funfactor)(out of 5)

Cat's babble:
Boring! So much planning and building and so little action. I did enjoy sending out the ninjas on Bel though.....

There are some nifty pics during the story before the game.
Love those ninjas!!!
Yes please!
A bit of training...
Import Interest:
If we only spoke Japanese, we could enjoy the import-only Nobunaga II on Saturn...
