Ever wanted to play a game where YOU get to be part of the government's attack squad, destroying the fighters of the resistance? Already did that in Tie Fighter? Ok, well, come back and do it again...but a lot more slowly, and on the ground this time in Sega's Metal Head! Yeehaw!

What's it all about?
It's a really slow-paced FPS that puts you in control of a "Metal Head" mech as you roam the streets in search of the resistance. At the beginning of each level you'll be given a set of objectives, you mow down anything that gets in your way, you accomplish them, you move to the next level...

Graphics - For a 32X game, the graphics are pretty damn impressive. The texture mapped buildings, walls and floors are a bit blocky, but still come off very well. The enemies, your mech and other various things in the game are pretty much the same, a little blocky but still look damn good!
Sound - Not bad, not bad at all. A LOT of speech is crammed into this one, and comes through really clearly. The sound effects and music are just sort of there...nothing special.
Control - A little sluggish, due to the speed(or lack there of). That can be good or bad: On one hand, it really feels like you are controlling an amazingly heavy mech, on the other, it makes some battles extremely tough and frustrating.
AI - They see you, they shoot. Pretty much it...
Replay value - Not exactly an arcade game, but not a hardcore sim-style game either. With the multiple missions, various weapons and boosters you may find yourself coming back for more...quite a few times.
Tips for better gaming experiences:
Whenever you go through a door and there is an enemy sitting right in front of you, SHOOT! Though you can't move at all, the game will still allow you to shoot, destroying anything in front of you before the door closes and normal control resumes.

My rating: 86(out of 100) - A solid effort by the 32X and Sega at a 3D FPS-like shooter! Fun missions, nice scenery and some hot metal ass awaits you.
EGM gave it: 5.5, 5, 4.5, 4(out of 10)
GamePro gave it: 3.0(graphics), 2.0(sound), 4.0(control), 3.0(funfactor) (out of 5)
Game Informer gave it: 7(out of 10)
VideoGames gave it: 8, 9, 8, 8(out of 10)

JD's meow:
Jeez...this is worse than Saturn 3D and that's hard to believe. Slow, looks like ass and plays even worse. Keep it away from this kitty!

There he is, your Metal Head. Damn that's sexy!
When's the last time you saw a mech downtown?
Ok dickhead, I think I'll remember that one. How about you remember to report yourself to the Department of Redundancy Department...
Remember to stop, or the old man will harp you some more.

Description: The story intro from the game. Features a fully voiced story as well as a rotating view of your Metal Head as he scurries around the town. Features what could quite possibly be the worst synchronization of spoken word and on-screen text you will *ever* come across. It cracks me up when the voice stops just so the text can catch up.
Note: You'll need the most recent Divx codec to watch these videos. Also, slowdown and jumps in the playback may not necessarily be the fault of the game so much as the method I am using to record them. If you are having problems watching the videos in your browser, just right-click and download them to your hard drive...
