Connect Sega 32X expansion to JVC X'eye

This guide will explain how to successfully connect Sega 32X expansion to your JVC X'eye system. A little history lesson about the X'eye...Sega granted JVC to manufacture its own Genesis and Sega CD compatible products, and JVC created an interesting all-in-one unit, which allowed players to have one system for two functions. X'eye can play both Genesis cartridge games, and Sega CD games. Originally, the Sega CD was an add-on attachment which when connected to Sega Genesis allowed play of CD enhanced games. X'eye is similar to Sega's own CDX project, however it is not as small, and cannot be used as a portable CD player. CDX however lacks the Kareoke feature of the X'eye.

It is unknown if Sega or JVC ever planned to officially support the connection between the X'eye and the 32X expansion, however, in pretty much the same fashion as stated in the Connect Sega 32X expansion to JVC X'eye guide, this connection also works without problems! :) Now, again, some sort of a pass-through module would have been nice, in order to make this connection firm and not so shaky. OK, let's start.

First thing you will need is a JVC X'eye system.

Sega Genesis controller (preferably the 6-button version). :)

Sega Genesis 2/CDX/32X/X'eye stereo A/V cable.

JVC X'eye power supply.

Sega Genesis 32X expansion.

Sega Genesis 32X power supply (same as a Genesis 2 power supply).

OK, if you want to play a Sega CD game, or a 32X-CD game, now is the time to put one in the X'eye CD drive.

Once the CD is in, close the drive. This has to be done now since later the 32X expansion will block the drive door from opening.

Take off the plastic from the bottom of the 32X, as it is not needed.

Now put the 32X expansion into the X'eye's cartridge slot until it's fixed as firmly as possible. The connection will be shakey so try not to move everything once it is powered up.

Here is how the combo looks. As you can see, the CD drive door is totally blocked now from opening.

OK, take the pass-through cable connector which came with your 32X and put one end in the X'eye's A/V out port.

The other end goes into the 32X's A/V in port.

Take the X'eye power supply and insert the power plug into the power port of the X'eye unit.

After that, plug the X'eye power supply into a free power outlet in your home.

Take the 32X power supply and plug the power connector to the 32X's power port.

Take the Genesis 2/CDX/32X/X'eye stereo A/V cable and plug it into the 32X's A/V out port.

The other end, which are the stereo RCA jacks should go to an RCA input in your TV, VCR, etc.

And of course, let's not forget to plug in the 32X power supply into a free power outlet, too.

Now we should plug in the controller into controller port 1 of the X'eye system.

Time to power up the X'eye system and see if we got it all working right! :).

Yep, it's working...as expected. :)

But let's try it with a 32X game now, shall we? Turn off the X'eye system and put a 32X game cartridge into the 32X cartridge slot, and then power up the X'eye system.

Mmmhmmm. :)
